So, in the past 24 hours I've retextured all my assets for Arnold Toon Shader, since it works better than Maya's. And I can see it, it definitely looks...better. I do need to play with the lighting more, and see how to recreate a Skydome without actually using a Skydome since it messes up the Toon shader (the cell shading is much softer and the look is very different). Might try just bounce lights and box ramps with Area Lights to act as a sort of sky 'thing'.
I also added some more assets to the big asset box, dresser, and workbench. Took the top part of the workbench off so the lighting was better in the room. Need to do some detailing textures on the picture frames, and possibly the seed packets and potting mix. Maybe some scattered debris but that's if I have time for details like that.
Will be adding the flute as a separate file so when I move it and have the Widow interact with it, it doesn't mess up any other geometry that is referenced in.
Also, I am getting a ton of assets from Turbosquid and CGtrader. Need to keep track of those.
Here are some first attempts at cluttering the workspaces:
(these details are spot-modeled by me)
(and these plants and pots I found online and messed with the textures to fit the Toon)
Anyways, here are some test renders of the scene, with the Widow plopped in for some size and style guidance:
Might play with the Greenhouse color ramps so it is more solid, but I like the last picture's almost gradient look. Transmission might need some fixing if there is a light pointing at the glass, the colors bounce back like the 5th picture. Not sure if I like it, but I'll keep messing with it.
Populating with plants is an ongoing task. And I do still need to fix some of the Widow's geo, but it shouldn't take a lot of time.
